About the Upper Ohio Valley SHRM Chapter

Our chapter is committed to excellence in the Human Resources field.

Our organization provides you with a forum to exchange ideas, network with other area professionals, enrich your knowledge, and become a member of the local chapter affiliated with the Society for Human Resources Management®.

Our meetings have historically been hosted at various restraurants around the valley at noon on the second Thursday of every month, as well as three or four special events per year. However, due to the pandemic and in order to keep everyone safe while still being able to network and continue with our meetings, we have transitioned to a virtual monthly meeting platform, usually held on the third Thursday of each month, from 11:30am - 1pm.

We provide members with networking opportunities throughout the tri-state area, including WV (Brooke, Hancock, Ohio, Marshall and Wetzel Counties), OH (Belmont, Jefferson and Monroe Counties), and PA (Allegheny, Washington and Westmorland Counties). While we do not require national SHRM membership, we do encourage each member to become national SHRM members for additional educational, instructional and nationwide services.

This website will provide you with information regarding our chapter, contact information, applications for membership, meeting dates and recent legislative decisions affecting you as a human resources professional.

    HISTORY

The group was started in the early 1970’s and was originally called the Upper Ohio Valley Personnel Association. Local human resources professionals met on a monthly basis to discuss issues and exchange information. The group continued to provide valuable services to area employers in the tri-state area through 1997. At that time, the Association decided to become affiliated with SHRM in 1998 and is now known as the Upper Ohio Valley Society for Human Resources Management.

The mission of the Upper Ohio Valley Society for Human Resources Management is to service it's members and their represented employers.
